I've decided to move the next DL to next Thursday the 12th. I think with the Holiday it should make things a little easier for those who are traveling.

Have a happy and safe 4th of July celebration. The City of Monterey has created a special page with parking and road closure information, http://www.monterey.org/four/ .

Hmmm... I was unaware that I had to approve comments made on the blog. They are now all published. I was not ignoring you.

Also we have a Monterey specific forum where everyone can start topics and leave comments.

This would be a great way to discuss the many (frightening) recent developments in the Middle East. Please visit the forum here. Perhaps we can pool our resources and build a fallout shelter for the upcoming sh*tstorm. After all, we want our liberal ideals to live on.

That reminds me I should go to the store and stockup on creme-filled sponge cakes and toilet paper.

Hi Everyone!

The last couple of weeks have been crazy for me, as I recently moved (though just down the street). I've finally stabilized my internet connection and am able to post to the blog from home. Unfortunately I wasn't able to make the last meeting. Which reminds me thank you very much to Vickie for helping run the meeting on such short notice.

I also want apologize to the people who came to Peter B's on Friday the 2nd instead of Thursday the 1st, due to a misprint in the weekly. I managed to catch a couple of people before they ran away in despair. Please note that we meet on the first Thursday of every month at Peter B's, 7pm. The next meeting will be August 3rd.

I should also take the time to thank Mark from the Weekly for his continual support. Someday we'll become a well oiled machine of information and dialogue.

We need your help in promoting DL in Monterey!

I'm just one person (and a busy one at that). So I've decided to start a "street team" if you will to promote the group grassroots style. If you're interested please let me know at our next meeting or send an email to monterey (at) drinkingliberally.org .

There is no required time committment (I'm afraid of it too). You can do as much or as little as you have time for.

The next meeting will be Thursday June 1st 7 pm at Peter B's Brewery. I believe they will be extending their Happy Hour prices for us again. Bring a friend or two.

Thanks to all who came to the first Drinking Liberally in Monterey. We had a dozen people show up, pretty good for the short notice. Hopefully, next time I'll have buttons for everyone.

The management of Peter B's Brewery were very happy to host DL, they even extended their Happy Hour prices for our group. Half priced appetizers and $2.50 pints!

Also a special thanks to Mark from the Monterey County Weekly for coming out and sharing a pitcher with us. I'm not sure when the piece will run, but hopefully it'll bring more people out.
